Since February 2024, Bateg—a subsidiary of VINCI Construction—has been carrying out the first traditional Indian cultural center, located in Bussy-Saint-Georges in Seine-et-Marne (77) as the general contractor of the operation, with GS Construction as their co-contractor and Botte Fondations as a subcontractor. With a goal of 100% low-carbon and very-low-carbon poured concretes compliant with VINCI Construction’s EXEGY standard, the project also has the distinctive feature of incorporating solutions of EXEGY® low-carbon precast stairs conceived by LG Industrie.
This project is an exceptional operation for Bateg due to the technical expectations of the client: BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, an international sociocultural organization based in India, engaged in humanitarian work and recognized by the United Nations. The center is constructed in accordance with the principles of traditional Indian architecture, all the while being thoroughly adapted to the French landscape by the architecture firm Arte Charpentier.
Tailor-made, the internal and external EXEGY® precast stairs—22 in total—installed by Bateg are produced by LG Industrie, and constitute a total concrete volume of 40 m3. Additionally, the external stairs will have marble cladding.
Supplied by a local batching plant of Béton Solutions Mobiles (BSM) based in Lognes (about 6 km from Bussy-Saint-Georges), the concretes poured by Bateg are mainly in CEM I with an addition of slag or in CEM III/B, for a general volume (excluding precast) of 4,750 m3.
These concretes, whose strength classes range from C16/20 to C40/50, are low-carbon and very-low-carbon, and notably have a carbon footprint at 151 kg eq. CO2/m3 (CEM I C16/20), 158 kg eq. CO2/m3 (CEM I C20/25) and 167.8 eq. CO2/m3 for a CEM III/B-based C40/50 concrete, also used for the building’s walls.
As for the EXEGY® precast stairs, they are very-low-carbon, at a C35/45 strength class and XC1 exposure class, and notably have a carbon footprint at 180.1 kg eq. CO2/m3 (A1-A3). Located in Saint-Hilare-le-Vouhis and Sèvremont, their Vendée-based supplier LG Industrie—the LG Group’s precast concrete subsidiary—is one of the first partners of EXEGY, and has also provided concrete to the site of the Le Mancel residence in Le Mans (72), part of VINCI Construction’s range of residential buildings Primméa.
The center will cover an area of 8,000 m², will have two floors and will include a one-level basement. It will also feature an assembly hall, a gymnasium, activity rooms, offices and housing, as well as a green terrace on the top floor.
Expected for delivery in 2026, this one-of-a-kind project is in line with both the environmental commitments of VINCI Construction, and with the acceleration of the application of low-carbon concretes into precast.
